Why Use Sterilization Pouches
Kraft sterilization pouches are necessary to maintain the conditions of sterility for instruments that have undergone processing.
They are made of multi-layered cellulose, which is both moisture-resistant and allows air, used for sterilizing instruments, to pass through effectively.
The thermosealed seam helps maintain the integrity of the pouch, ensuring a sterile environment for the instruments.
Sealed pouches maintain sterility for 20 to 50 days, depending on the manufacturer. If you conduct instrument sterilization in a dry heat sterilizer or autoclave and do not use Kraft pouches, you must store them in a UV cabinet.
In all other cases, instruments cannot be considered safe.
Types of Kraft Sterilization Pouches for Manicures
Sterilization pouches come in different sizes and materials.
Sizes of Kraft Sterilization Pouches:
- 100x200 mm pouches accommodate 1 standard set: scissors, tweezers, and a cuticle pusher.
- 75x100 mm pouches are for tweezers and nail drill bits.
- 60x100 mm pouches are commonly used as pouches for nail drill bits.
Colors of Kraft Sterilization Pouches:
- Brown pouches: Made of sack paper, resistant to temperature. It is impregnated with special oils, which is why it may leave residue on the chamber and instruments and emit a smell.
- White pouches: Made of moisture-resistant paper, they are odorless and do not leave residue.
- Transparent pouches: Consist of medical paper and multi-layered, transparent, heat-resistant PET/PA film.
Kraft sterilization pouches are also divided by sterilization method:
- Air sterilization: Kraft pouches for dry heat sterilizers.
- Steam sterilization: Kraft pouches for autoclaves.
- Mixed sterilization: Suitable for both types of sterilizers.
Which Kraft Sterilization Pouches Are Suitable for Autoclaves?
From the Kraft pouches available in our assortment, we recommend using transparent ones for autoclaves. They are suitable for mixed sterilization - equally effective for both dry heat sterilizers and autoclaves.
Kraft paper pouches (white and brown) can be used for sterilization in autoclaves, but we recommend transparent ones.
Kraft Sterilization Pouches by Med Test
This brand produces products for high-quality sterilization in medical institutions. They are considered the best sterilization pouches available on the Ukrainian market at the moment, so we highly recommend using them.
We also manufacture our own Kraft sterilization pouches, but production has been temporarily suspended due to the pandemic.
Can Instruments be Sterilized Without Kraft Pouches?
Yes, they can. The presence of Kraft pouches does not affect the quality of sterilization itself. Their purpose is to store instruments.
However, we highly recommend using them because unlike UV cabinets, which need to be kept on, the pouches require no additional care. The only thing that can interfere with their function is if they tear (which only happens with careless handling by the master) or become unsealed (which practically never happens).
The pouches maintain sterility and microbial barrier for 50 days.
